How to cast Desktop to a Chromecast?

On newer version of the Mac you will need to have Google Chrome added to the Screen Recording Privacy setting. To make changes to this Google Chrome will need to be completely closed.
Go to System Preferences -> Security and Privacy -> Click the Privacy Tab -> scroll down to Screen Recording -> Click the lock to unlock -> Place a check box by Google Chrome. If Google Chrome doesn't show up click the + and navigate to /Applications/Google Chrome and click open.
